Better Eating Through Chemistry
Part art project and part social commentary on so-called Frankenfood, this installation meshes traditional kitchens with modern laboratories.
This project came about from my interest (and infatuation) with all things chemistry related. I intended to poke fun at the idea that foods are safer to eat simply because they "lack chemicals," as well as illuminate the fact that everything we consume is comprised of chemicals.
Created with Jason Hakala, this collection required that we construct a set comprised of lab equipment intertwined with traditional Japanese bento boxes, lacquerware and cuisine.
